Agricultural Image Repository

Building the image datasets powering the Agricultural AI revolution.

The Agricultural Image Repository (AgIR) is a growing library of agricultural plant images used to train artificial intelligence for farming. The repository contains labeled images of weeds, crops, and cover crops collected all across the United States to support research, precision agriculture, and AI-powered farming tools.

Farmers

AgIR is an open-source agricultural image library designed to empower researchers and developers to create smarter AI tools for farming. The repository includes over 50 terabytes of annotated images of weeds, crops, and cover crops collected in both controlled semi-field environments and on farm.

AgIR exists to make AI in agriculture more accessible, affordable and relevant for addressing the current challenges facing American farmers.

How BenchBot and AgIR Work Together

BenchBot acts as one of the main image collection systems for AgIR. Together, they create a public ecosystem of agricultural data that helps power precision agriculture tools and AI research.

A National Collaboration

AgIR partners with universities and institutions across multiple states to collect agricultural images from different regions, crops, and growing conditions. This helps ensure the AI models trained with AgIR data work across diverse farming environments.

Who Uses AgIR?

AgIR supports innovation across agriculture, computer vision, and precision farming technologies.
